Messy Church is:
- An interactive event with crafts, music, worship and celebration for all ages.
- An alternative experience of “church” offered on Saturday afternoons, rather than Sunday mornings.
- It is called “Messy Church” because playing with playdough, or decorating cupcakes, or eating spaghetti or jumping up and down while singing are not usually things we do during regular “church”.
A typical Messy Church event goes something like this:
4:00 – 4:15 pm: gathering, activities, conversation
4:15 – 4:30 pm: music, led by our in house band “The Frogs”
theme introduction, story, prayer
4:30 – 5:15 pm: various activities: crafts, playdough, discussion, (adults can sometimes help with the cooking or just watch the kids get messy!)
5:15 – 5:30 pm: gathering again, music, story
5:30 – 6:00 pm: supper – provided by the event, free-will donation
